There are millions of ash trees in New York but they are being threatened by a pesky bug.

The DEC confirmed Friday that an infestation of Emerald Ash Borers was found in the Catskill Forest Preserve in Ulster County.

The Ash Borer is a type of beetle.

The DEC says one way to stop this insect is by using only local firewood.

They say any untreated ash firewood that is brought into camp grounds can accelerate the spread of the bugs, even if it’s from as little as five miles away.
